JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 19 dogs were rescued Friday in connection with a hoarding case in Jacksonville.

Animal Care & Protective Services found 19 dogs in need of help. 12 have been placed with the Jacksonville Humane Society. The others are being treated by other rescue organizations.

ACPS said the dogs needed major medical attention.

"It will take at least two weeks and thousands of dollars of treatment before these dogs are ready for adoption," said Dr. Jennifer Broadhurst, the medical director at the Humane Society. "We hope we can find foster families to give these poor little dogs love and attention while we provide them with the veterinary treatment they desperately need."

If you can help by donating for medical bills or fostering any of the animals, you're asked to contact the Jacksonville Humane Society online, or call (904) 725-8766.
