JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two people were injured in a crash involving a Jacksonville sheriff's officer near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Suni Pines.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. near the Regal Cinemas, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

Police say an SUV had come to a stop on Beach Blvd and the JSO car was unable to stop before striking the rear end of the SUV.

One elderly male and one elderly female who were in the SUV were transported for precautionary reasons to Baptist Beaches hospital, according to JSO.

Several lanes of Beach Boulevard were shut down while first responders attended to the scene.

No word if the officer who hit the SUV will be cited.

No word on if the officer who hit the SUV will be cited? Um ok, well, would the driver of the SUV have been cited if he hit the cop instead of the other way around? Look at the patroll car, its done.. I passed the crash yesterday and it looked brutal!
