28 arrested in Osceola County child sex sting
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) -- Twenty-eight people were arrested in a child sex sting operation, Osceola County investigators said Monday.
Investigators said the
five day, multi-agency operation resulted in arrests on a variety of charges, including traveling to seduce a child for sex.According to investigators, undercover detectives posing as juveniles used chat rooms and instant messaging programs to exchange messages with those later arrested. The 28 people arrested had traveled to a house in Osceola County with the expectation they would have sex with a child, according to investigators.Michele Cassetta traveled from Italy to Osceola County on business. Detectives said he stopped by the house thinking he was about to meet a girl. Cassetta was met by a group of law enforcement officers instead.During the chats some of those later arrested sent pornographic images to undercover detectives and some brought drugs to the meeting place, investigators said.Among those in custody was Kristopher Gilbert from Titusville, who works as a substitute teacher. Zack Marvin, 27, and Heidi Freer, 25, are married. Detectives said the two showed up together expecting a sexual encounter with a teenager. She told investigators it was going to be a game with a father and his 14-year-old daughter. "I convinced myself that it was a role play game," Freer said. She went on to say what she thinks of pedophiles. "When it comes to people having sex with children it grosses me out," Freer said. Several agencies participated in the operation, which ran from Wednesday through Sunday, according to the sheriff's department."The first night we only had one (arrest). Then there were two, but as the days progressed, the numbers increased. (Sunday) night was the most and that was 12 individuals that were arrested."Dylan Vogt was arrested. He sobbed uncontrollably during questioning following his arrest."I knew this was going to be a (expletive) setup," Vogt said. "I wasn't trying to hurt nobody."All of those arrested were booked into the Osceola County Jail.
