ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says it has finished collecting more than $7 million worth of cocaine from area beaches.

Bundles of the drugs started to wash ashore on Friday between Ponte Vedra Beach and Crescent Beach, some 40 miles of coastline.

Fortunately, the beaches were closed due to the bad weather.  The beaches are now back open.

The estimate street value of all the cocaine is $7.5 million.  Detectives and other agencies are working together to determine the origin of the cocaine.

It's not the first time this has happened.  One local told Action News bundles of marijuana washed ashore several months ago.
