JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One man has been arrested after what police are calling an accidental shooting on the Northside.

19-year-old Kenneth Smith was rushed to UF & Shands Hospital with a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head. Police say he shot himself while mishandling the gun.  He died on Friday.

JSO arrested the man detectives believe owned the gun. Darryl Austin is facing charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence. Police say he took the gun from the home after Smith was shot.

Detectives say three other people were inside the home at the time. Police say from the 911 call, it appears Smith was showing off the gun when it accidentally went off.

"criminal bought the gun" ??!!! Yea...right...Actually the story leads me to believe that he may only be guilty of possessing it during the time he was trying to dispose of it. Dumb move & illegal.
