Bald eagle shot in St. Augustine
ELKTON, Fla. -- A bald eagle is recovering after being shot in St. Augustine.
H.A.W.K.E. Wildlife, a non-profit rescue group, says it has been caring for the mature bald eagle since last week when it was found near State Road 206 in the St. Augustine area.
X-rays done by a local veterinarian show bullet fragments in the eagle's body.
The eagle will be taken to the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Orlando for rehabilitation because H.A.W.K.E. Wildlife doesn't have the funds to provide for its care.
