JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Stephanie West says her son, Anthony Jones, had to be treated in the hospital after he was beaten by a crowd at Jacksonville Beach on Memorial Day. In an interview with our News Partner WOKV, she also disputes the police version of events.

[NEW VIDEO OF JACKSONVILLE BEACH BRAWL]

West says the brawl started as a fight between her son's friend and gang members. She says a gang called the "Twelve Hundred Boys" from Jacksonville's Eastside are responsible for the attacks. West says they are well known in her neighborhood and that gang members regularly target kids in her community.

"They're just really basically going around messing around with little old kids. They say these guys are way much older and extra over bigger. My son is only like 150-160 lbs. And his friend is only like 130," said West in an interview with our news partner, WOKV.

West says she is most frustrated with the police response as the attack was happening. She also disputes claims from police that they received no 911 calls about the attack.

"Several people, I mean several people called and said how they were calling the police or whatever. And you could tell they weren't there. And my son had broke away from them one time and ran then they end up catching him again," West said in an emotional interview with WOKV. "I mean, Jax Beach Police was nowhere. And then I called them and asked them to send an ambulance and the police to McDonald's on the beach and I got there, before they got there."

"I just want justice to be served and I don't want them to be doing this to no one else's children," West cried. "That was just ridiculous for you to take that upon yourself and not just jump on my child, but somebody else's children too for no reason."

For now, she's focused on her son's recovery. "He's in a lot of pain. His shoulder is out of place. He has bruises everywhere."

Same thing as the Landing. Families trying to celebrate a holiday and thugs have to ruin it for everyone. They are evil and have no direction. They are a blight on the entire community of Jacksonville and there will never be anything here from the Landing to Jax Beach until they are removed.

The "twelve hundred boys gang" don't police know whom they are? you know if we don't get serious with this gang problem it will infest every neighborhood in jacksonville in 5 years. Its really getting time to start killing these "SB"S" instead of "CAROSEL DOOR" in and out pointless incarcerations.

What in the hell are you doing blaing the police?? I know people are going to think this is a stupid comment but its not the polices job to protect you! They come in AFTER the fact. Supreme Court has ruled on this a few times when the police have been sued. The police CAN'T be everywhere and when you have a thug mentality, its hard for them to keep everyone safe! I feel sorry for the mother and the young man but blame the thugs! You are so right jsheit!! It's kinda like the thug in the WH and his administration, didn't know anything until I seen it on the news ( Barack Obummer), yes, I signed for it but I didn't read what it said because I have too many things come across my desk (Eric Holder), I didn't know they needed more security (Hillary Clinton), I'm pleading the 5th but that doesn't mean I did anything wrong because I didn't know conservative groups were being targeted (Ms. Lerner) IRS Supervisor!! Would someone in the U.S. please take responsibility for your own actions???

They should use facial recognition and question as many as they can find of these idiots, take them to court and fine them for the amount of money the business's lost because of this. If you can make them pay for the damages, maybe there parents will straighten them out better than they have.

The obvious would be to match up the photos / mug shots they already have on the 1200 Boys and match it with the video. Then when the prosecutor is too wimpy to give them heavy sentences and only gives them probation, trespass them from 1000 yards any of the community beaches (JAX, NEP, ATL, PONT). When they are in violation which they eventually will. Ship them to a cage for the next 5 years. Their actions prove that they belong there.

It's just like the shootings and crime throughout the black community. Nobody saw anything, nobody knows anything. But look how quick they are to blame the police. Until the black community steps up, nothing will change.

Hope Anthony gets well soon. The only way Jax Beach is going to improve their protection is IF they aggressively pursue and arrest these cowards AND get hurt in the wallet. If that was my son I would be talking to an attorney.
