TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida could gain an extra hour of daylight if a newly proposed bill is passed by Florida’s legislatures.

State Rep. Mark Danish and state Sen. Darren Soto have each proposed a bill that would prevent the state from rolling clocks back in the winter.

The proposal would mean that sunlight would stay out longer during the winter months.

If the bill were to be signed, Florida would join Hawaii, Arizona, Puerto Rico, and several U.S. territories that do not observe the time change.

No, WishMiss, you have it backwards. I would only agree if the whole of the USA agrees on one --- Standard or Daylight.

Grammy...I believe the bill to be one to REMOVE DST from Florida. Yes? That is how parts of Arizona have been-On God's Time. That's right where we need to be.

Daylight Savings Time year round - Absolutely NOT - all living beings are programed with what is known as circadian rhythm ...we do not turn and off on command ....even a 4 minute change to the CR takes a long time for the body to adjust .... There are many studies on the stress DST inflicts on the human populace ...These two elected officials need to quite playing "mother nature", leave human beings alone, and go earn their paycheck doing something GOOD for Florida Citizens, like revoke DST permanently !!!

Daylight Savings has been a Nightmare for years. There is no reason for such foolishness anymore. We work around the clock today, leaving most people to suffer numerous complaints due to the constant time change. People take so long to readjust each time, that just as we 'get back into the swing of it', time changes again. It's non-productive and costly in a variety of ways. Good Riddance!

"The proposal would mean that sunlight would stay out longer during the winter months." Later not longer. We are unable to control how long the sun is out.

Yes great Idea! I own a business and when time changes to become dark at 530pm People go straight home and don't stay out to shop. It's psychological. People think oh my god it's dark it must be late when it's only 5 or 6 pm. I think it's a great idea for tourism as well. Light later people tend to stay out later and spend money. We don't need daylight savings time anymore.
