JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- Hot off the presses: a new T-shirt designed inside 8103 Clothing comes with a big message.
"Take Back Jax Beach," said shop owner Mark Braddock of the slogan on the shirt.
Braddock says he created the design last night, fed up after a massive beach brawl that was caught on camera on Memorial Day. Action News has obtained brand new video that shows just part of that fight. Braddock said the first thing he noticed was some of the people in the crowd were wearing his designs.
"And that's the exact opposite of the behavior that we need down here," he said.
Braddock realized something needs to change. He said all proceeds from these new $25 shirts will go directly to the city of Jacksonville Beach. He wants that money used to help step up security or hire more officers.
"Basically to help to be able to keep our city safe and clean," Braddock said.
He realizes the new design may put a dent in his bottom line and even turn away some of his regular customers. But he tells Action News he just wants to stop fights like this from breaking out at the beach.
"We're a very mixed diverse crowd out here and everyone is welcome to the beach. But when you behave like that, that's where you draw the line. And that's it," he said. "It's just trying to prevent this from happening again."
Action News has reached out to the city to find out if they can even accept donations of this nature. We are awaiting word back.
