JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Nearly 45 years after the first restaurant opened, Chick-fil-A is reporting record sales.

Wednesday's Chick-fil-A appreciation day - sparked by a suggestion by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, resulted in thousands of customers getting their fill of chicken, and supporting company President Dan Cathy.

Cathy voiced his support of traditional marriage in July, which sparked a debate that quickly spread nationwide.

On Wednesday, supporters lined up to show their appreciation of the religious-based restaurant, but on Friday there will be another crowd.

Gay activists are calling for a "Kiss Day," asking same sex couples to visit Chick-fil-A and kiss to protest Cathy's comments.

Chick-fil-A Vice President Steve Robinson said they are prepared for more crowds, and they'll use it as an opportunity to provide, "genuine hospitality, superior service, and great food."

Oh my nativejax~The Constitution is for everyone, not just those that are like you. You know the part of "WE the people," and the all "men" are created equal declaration? What is it that you know about the minds of gay people? I do not think they want any more attention than you appear to need for your way of life. I do not feel sorry for anyone due to their choices. Many gay people struggle with what they "feel." Do you really think they want to be out of the mainstream of life? Do you really believe they want negative attention? They just want to be heard when things like this comes up. I do not pretend to understand what attracts them to their own sex, but it is something they must figure out to move on with their lives. BTW, I am a devoted hetero, with the same man for 37 years. Interesting the way you mention that if everyone shut their eyes to things that do not fit, the spread of disease & all that, life is not "a one size fits all" thing. As for my head being up where the sun doesn't shine about learning experiences for kids, I have been influential in many young lives, and everything is a learning experience for them. It is the adults that they look to to teach them what they desire to know. No fluff, just realistic explanations when they question situations. I am not sure what you mean by twisted TV shows. Please enlighten me. I am fully aware of the realities of life. I am more skeptical of people that believe as you do. You say do not hate, but your comments are not in line with that statement. Your "yelling" at me indicates that you have trouble communicating in a rational way. No "balls" for me, simply an average American with compassion for most people. Not so much for the likes of you though. I learned that those of your mind set lack tolerance for anyone outside of your narrow life and comfort zone.

I don't 'hate' anyone whosaysnocan, BUT I DO HATE their choices they SHOVE down our throats IN PUBLIC. You must be as gay as they come. If they want "live their life's as the CONSTITUTION provides..you better READ IT AGAIN. NO WHERE in their does it say we have to CREATE MORE LAWS, CONDONE OR SUPPORT an immoral bunch of people who chose to be 'sick' just for the 'attention' they seek. GAYS KNOW they are perverting the laws of God and NATURE and THEY CHOOSE TO IGNORE IT to get the attention they must feel they were deprived of. If they would RATHER seek the company of the same sex than seek guidance from God, a minister, a counselor, or a doctor, than thats their business, BUT JUST AS LOVE AND SEX IS SUPPOSE TO BE SACRED AND IN PRIVATE FOR NORMAL HETEROSEXUAL PEOPLE, SO SHOULD IT BE FOR THEM. People defend them because they feel SORRY for them, but if everyone shut their eyes to obvious things that' don't fit', it spreads like a disease and everyone gets sick. NOT ME, you are the one with your head 'literally' up your azz, and it must stink pretty bad up there if you think its 'a healthy, learning experience' for young kids to see people making out in public or on the twisted TV shows. Or so 'complacent' with this 'abnormal' lifestyle, you don't even know what 'reality' is and you have the balls to criticize us?

nativejax & grumpyoldman: It has to be exhausting to carry such "hate" for a group of people. "These" people are not sick nor do they have any type of identity crisis. nativejax~Seeing you and boyfriend "kissing & slobbering" in public would probably be offensive. Your comment concerning police escorting you out is way out there. As for little kids observing this type of behavior in public, this should be a learning experience for them and a teaching one for the parent. What is it about people trying to protect their kids from real life? You apparently have an unrealistic view of life and stay within your comfort zone. So sad. Gay people do not want more rights or freedoms, they just want to live their lives as our Constitution provides. I have not been to a Chick-fil-A in years. Now I will not waste my money or calories at an fast food joint that has become another business that preaches holiness and from my life I know most of these types are the worst people.

This has only made Chick-fil-A a regular place for me to eat. I used to not eat there very often. But, now I will be a regular customer. Just to add... These sick people who have an obvious identity crisis need HELP... NOT RIGHTS! Take them to the nearest mental health facility.

Let me tell you something, if I was out 'kissing and slobbering' on my boyfriend in public where small children were eating, the management would ask me to leave and GO GET A ROOM or have me escorted out by the POLICE.. If lesbians STILL think they deserve MORE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS to carry on like that in public on PRIVATE PROPERTY, ARREST EVERY ONE OF THEM too for indecent and inappropriate behavior in front of minors. PROBLEM SOLVED, let them sin in jail.
