JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- I got to tell you. The IRS is working really hard to bottle up all the identity theft that's going on this year's IRS list.
Identity theft is number one of the dirty dozen things that they want you to be aware of.
Something you should know, you start suddenly receiving mail for someone else at your home, maybe that individual has tried to take over your identity.
It could be even your name with all types of letters showing up at your house for things you didn't apply for. And you go to file your taxes and bam! You can't because somebody is pretending to be you.
Something else, people pretending to be the IRS.
Let me tell you how this works. You get an e-mail from the IRS saying they need to talk to you, there's a refund, there's a problem, whatever.
The IRS never sends e-mails.
Any e-mail you get pretending to be the IRS is somebody just trying to phish for your information.
I have the full list of the dirty dozen, the things you have to watch out for on my website
