Clark Howard: Unlimited flights
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- I hear complaint after complaint from people who have to travel a lot for work about how unbelievably expensive it is for them to do business travel. The nation's airlines are in a powerful position now.
There are four airlines that control 85 percent of all seats in America. If you're a leisure traveler traveling occasionally, you watch for a sale. You'll still do OK, except for those junk fees they add on afterward.
But business travelers are getting their wallets eaten alive. So I'm really interested in a startup airline in California called Surf Air, where you pay a flat rate per month and you can fly unlimited flights per month.
It's my dream and my wife's nightmare because she doesn't like flying too much. But for me not having to worry about the price of a ticket and getting up and going wherever I need to or want to, I love that idea.
Is it going to work? Who knows, but it sure is fun.
