Marijuana is the safest drug with actual benefits for the user as opposed to alcohol which is dangerous, causes addiction, birth defects, and affects literally every organ in the body. Groups are organizing all over the country to speak their minds on reforming pot laws. imtellin: You are just like all the other ignorant people out there that are against marijuana, completely brainwashed by what you hear from others. You clearly have never tried it. In regards to your comment about operating machinery, what do you think alcohol does to someone when they get behind the wheel of a car? Last time I check alcohol was legal. If weed was legal how would it "enrich" the drug cartels? The fact that you could go buy it legally for a much cheaper price would discourage the cartels to sell it. You don't need a business degree to figure that one out. As a senior in college with a 3.33 GPA, an internship in my field of study, a second job, and a medical marijuana user, based on your vast knowledge of pot and its effects I must be a real degenerate, huh? If it's already been LEGALIZED in TWO states already, do you really think its that bad? Having it be illegal to grow a harmless flowering plant in your backyard is a stupid idea and a complete waste of tax payer dollars. There are plenty of other major issues that this country should be worrying about other than growing/smoking a plant.

Marijuana is the safe alternative for those needing medication. Are you naysayers aware that it stunts cancer growth, unlike 90% of all prescribed and other otcs medications, that cause cancerous growths? How can anyone be against it in this state? Its ok to serve and sell alcohol all day everyday now, which causes cancer and a whole plethora of other negative issues. Some of you need to do serious research.. Coca cola and McDonald's makes people stupid and kills them in the process. As an employed, intelligent, hard working medical marijuana user, I just have to say, you naysayers keep your vodka and vicodins, I'd rather stay healthy and functional using natural growing and occurring miracle marijuana, yes, miracle. I have been prescribed more medications than someone my age should, and the ONLY thing that has ever helped and not caused more side effects than illness is marijuana. So please, if you are not one of the millions currently being helped by marijuana, please don't be one of the thousands, trying to keep their brothers and sisters a slave to big pharma.

Oh and incidentally,imtellin, This would be the BEST way to get it OUT OF THE MEXICAN DRUG CARTEL'S HANDS....You said, "endanger the SOBER American's"???...What a joke..People are STILL being slaughtered on the highways DAILY by drunk drivers. NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN KILLED BY A DRIVER UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MARIJUANA ALONE. Where's the headline's where someone was convicted of Marijuana Manslaughter? WHERE ONLY MARIJUANA WAS FOUND IN THEIR SYSTEM? There are none, plain and simple.. Stick with facts instead of fiction and gossip and life would be a lot simpler for ALL....and in this case more profitable for all.

Who said anything about growing your own? And AS ALL OTHER MEDICATIONS, if you are PRESCRIBED medicinal marijuana IT WILL BE LABELED "not to operate motor vehicles ,etc". If you would have READ the STORY as Actionnews wrote it, you would have READ legalizing it for debilitating MEDICAL conditions...not for a recreation as you have implied. If someone get 'stupid' on it, as any other drug a doctor supplies, marijuana is not for them, and they need a different medication. Only 'burn't out potheads' who have mixed it as a 'recreational' drug with alcohol and pills have givin it a black mark against its PROVEN BENEFITS. There are patients who are REALLY SUFFERING and have found relief from using it. No one is saying 'potheads' should have access to it anytime, only patients that prescribed through the medical system. I don't smoke pot, but if I had a debilitating disease and NOTHING the doctor gave me worked, I would drink an 'herbal marijuana tea' in an instant if it stopped my pain. If it doesn't, I would try something else. EVERYTHING the FDA passes generates MONEY for the Government and the State, and this has already been proven a 'cash cow' for some States, and I'm not talking about California either, since you seem to think EVERYONE out there are 'fairy's and flakes.

and for the record,, the cereal state is california,, if you take away the fruits,, the nuts,, you're still left with the flakes !!!

how does growing your own generate any revenue for the state ??? nice try there,, but this state already has an excess of incredibly stupid people,, without adding to the numbers by legalizing a weed,, that serves no purpose other than to stunt brain function !!! i've heard the stories originating from the cereal state,, how this helps folks ??? 2 aspirins and a few cocktails would accomplish the same thing,, without cluttering our courts with every numbskull & his brother and his other brother claiming their 40 acres is for medical purposes !!! it will however enrich the Mexican drug cartels & continue to endanger the sober American populace & law enforcement !!!

Yes it should be...It is no stronger than aspirins when take in prescribed doses and not mixed with any other form of drug or alcohol. Plus it can generate millions of revenue for this State.
