NASSAU CO., Fla. -- A Nassau County Commissioner is now facing DUI charges following an arrest early Saturday.

The Nassau County Sheriff's Office received a call from a concerned driver who saw a blue Toyota S.U.V. running off the roadway and nearly striking another car head on while traveling north on Amelia Island Parkway.

A deputy followed the driver to her home. According to the report, Stacy Johnson, a Nassau County Commissioner, got out of the car and was having a hard time standing and walking.

Deputies say they could smell alcohol on her breath and person, her eyes were blood shot and her speech was slurred.

Johnson refused the field sobriety test and was transported to the Nassau County Detention Center. Once at jail, she refused a breathalyser test and was booked for the charge of D.U.I.

Johnson was released from jail on her own recognizance.

Action News has reached out to Johnson but got no comment as of yet.

Stacy Johnson is the District 3 Commissioner in Nassau County and is the Chair of the Board of Commissioners. She made headlines earlier this year after reportedly getting into a fist fight during the Concours D'Elegance then asking the Sheriff to keep the story out of the news.

Johnson's term as Commissioner is up in November. She is not running for re-election.
