Crash throws SUV’s engine 30 feet

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A high speed crash along I-95 in northern St. Johns County early Saturday morning sent a 22-year-old to the hospital in critical condition according to the Florida Highway Patrol.  

The single vehicle crash happened shortly after 1 a.m.
 
The FHP reports that the Lexis SUV was heading northbound when the driver lost control, struck a tree, light pole, and speed limit sign.
 
The force of the impact threw the engine more than 30 feet from the vehicle.
 
The identity of the driver is being withheld until family is notified.
 
The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle according to FHP.
