I meant to add, or if the parents are 'in on it' as these these parents were,.. sounds like the whole d@mn family is a bunch of thugs.

Because, realchange, by law a 17 year old cannot get the death penalty. I don't think it's right, he should be put to death, but the stupid laws ONLY work when it is UPHELD. By law parents are RESPONSIBLE for the kids until they are 18. And I think they should be held accountable for their kids actions. BUT THEY ARN'T. Mostly because a lot of parents are thugs themselves. So that line between a child and an adult is BLURRED. If we would UP HOLD the law to the letter, Trayvon's parents would have been responsible for their his death that night. Instead of causing all the hatred and trouble they did blaming everyone else but themselves. I don't think it should be BOTH ways. Either a kid is a minor and the parents are responsible for them until they are 18, or kid is subject to whatever punishment the courts throw at them or troble they get into as minors since the parents haven't a clue to what they are doing or where they are at.

IF he shot the child why should he get life in jail? If he did it death penalty should be applicable. I could see leniency for the other accomplice that testified to his actions but not the gun man.
