FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- The Flagler County Sheriff's Office is using a video recording from a red light camera to help find a vehicle involved in a crash with one of the county's traffic poles.

A camera at the intersection of Moody Boulevard and Memorial Medical Parkway in Palm Coast caught a white Kia Thursday afternoon striking the base of a red light camera.

Deputies believe the vehicle may be a 2011 or newer-model Kia Optima that should be missing its side mirror.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information to contact Sgt. Michael Van Buren of the Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit at 386-313-4911.

Looks like the automated for-profit scheme will need some self-defense systems. Irate motorists in England, which makes far greater use of this scheme for speed and parking, routinely burn the cameras there. http://news.cnet.com/2300-1028_3-6130201-2.html
