JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In the span of 48 hours, two separate drivers say their cars were hit by something. In one case police were able to confirm the vehicle was struck by pellets from a BB gun.

One instance happened on Christmas Eve and it still has Gwenda Green rattled.

"Every time a door shuts or something, I'm like jumping," she said.

Green said she was driving her Mercedes down the Arlington Expressway Tuesday evening when she heard a loud pop. She's convinced someone shot at her.

"Guns are not toys. They kill. They take lives," Green said.

Two days later PJ Elsken said his car was also hit. Police confirm in that case the holes are the result of a BB gun. It happened on the St. John's Bluff on-ramp to I-295.

"Somebody could have got hurt," Elsken said.

Green also filed a police report, and while officers couldn't confirm what left a mark on her car, she's grateful it wasn't worse.

She's no stranger to gun violence. Green lost her 15-year-old son decades ago -- an innocent bystander caught in the middle of a gun fight outside his high school.

"It brought back memories of the things I've dealt with in tragically losing my little boy in the past. But it also just made me wonder what are people thinking," she said.

And this scare will serve as a reminder of a piercing moment that tarnished her Christmas.

"Christmas used to be a time of giving. But let's not give bullets," she said.

Action News reached out to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to find out if there have been any other reported incidents along the Alrington Expressway in the past week.We were told JSO could provide that information for a fee.

The damage to Elksen's car is estimated at $500. Green's damage was estimated at $160.

Last part the story is interesting that JSO will only provide public information as fee. Says it all about our current government.
