FLORIDA (WFTV) -- Officials at the Food and Drug Administration said they have received thousands of reports of pets getting sick or dying after eating jerky treats from China.

The FDA said more than 600 dogs and cats have died as a result.

According to the FDA, most of the offending treats come from China, but there isn't one particular brand to watch out for.

FDA officials said it is one of the most elusive and mysterious outbreaks it has encountered.

The FDA has also released a fact sheet on its website so pet owners can be warned of possible symptoms.
