GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The driver involved in a fatal hit and run traffic crash last week has been arrested.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Christopher Michael Hovey Sr. of Middleburg turned himself in to police at the Clay County jail in Green Cove Springs about 5:45 p.m. today.

On Oct. 20 about 10 p.m. Christopher Strickland, 32, was in a wheelchair on Mimosa Avenue North near Sesame Street when a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer hit him on his way home. Strickland succumbed to his injuries and died five days later.
Hovey is cooperating with investigators. The Lancer is owned by Hovey and has been taken as evidence for the investigation.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
