ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The motorcade for a fallen National Guard capt. arrived in St. Augustine Saturday amid a heavy law enforcement escort.

Czarnecki and Sgt. David Stone were both struck and killed when they were trying to help a disabled motorist along I-10 near Tallahassee earlier this week, according to the Florida National Guard.

Czarnecki enlisted in the Florida Army National Guard in December 1993 as a medical specialist and was assigned to the 44th Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team.

A memorial service for Czarnecki will be held at 10 a.m. Monday on the Parade Field at the St. Francis Barracks in St. Augustine.

Funeral services for Stone were held Friday in Starke.

I find it very distressing that ActionNewsJax can't even mention this young woman's name in this story. Not once. Captain Tecarie Marie Czarnecki is mentioned only as 'Czarnecki' throughout the entire story. One has to look under her picture to see her name and rank. God Bless them both for their last attempts at assisting others.
