JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Friends and family members of Sherry Lee Prather filled a Westside banquet hall with heavy hearts.
"My mom wouldn't had wanted us to be upset. She would have wanted us to not cry," said Prather's oldest daughter, Britney Gonzalez.
But that wasn't the case at Prather's memorial. It seemed there wasn't a dry eye in the room as many celebrated the 43-year-old's life with a collection of pictures, candles and songs.
The local mother was last seen at Boots N Bottles tavern in Oceanway. Action News helped uncover surveillance video of her leaving the bar with a man on a motorcycle. Family members believe its the last images of their loved one alive. Her mother told Action News that someone has information from the night she left the bar that could help police find the person responsible for her death.
Police found her remains in a wooded area off Braddock Rd. in Northwest Jacksonville a few miles away from the bar.
Nearly two months after her disappearance, family members want answers from the person responsible.
"There's no way somebody can sleep at night knowing what you done to a person. Knowing you dumped her off like you did, she didn't deserve it," said Prather's stepdaughter, Jeannine Hall.
"I will not give up. I want her to rest in peace but the thought of the death she had for no reason," Prather's mother, Norma Ellis told the crowd.
Police suspect foul play in Prather's death. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
