WAYCROSS, Ga. -- Hundreds of people packed a Waycross church Tuesday night, devastated by the loss of a local hero.
Lt. Jeff Little's closest family and friends also celebrated good news, however. Just hours before, Waycross police arrested two men they say started the fire that took Little's life on Sunday.
"We're elated that it happened so quickly and that it's not something that's going to hang over our heads," said his brother, Andrew Little.
Waycross Police Chief Tony Tanner said a tip on the Georgia Arson Hotline on Tuesday morning led them to 17-year-old Zachery Thompson and 23-year-old Ronnie Cranford both of Waycross.
"There was some talk in the community about somebody maybe wanting to start a fire and then talk in the community that somebody had."
Tanner says both men came in for questioning around noon, and were charged with arson and murder right after their interviews.
"We're thankful to everyone of them for the hard work that they've done," said Andrew Little.
"It's satisfying in some aspects," added Tanner, "but it should have never happened, so therefore it's never satisfying."
