Replace "fear" with "situational awareness" by educating the individual which you seem to be doing for your son. No man should live in fear of another's irrational actions and for some being armed is a step in that direction ("Gun nuts" would probably be applied to the original "Minute Men" by the British troops trying to control the colonies). Dunn did have a right to "confront" these individuals over "loud" music but no right to do what he did. Both sides could have done better but Dunn needs to face the maximum penalty for his callous act (BTW your son is statistically in more danger from "black on black" crime than "gun nuts"). Good luck with him & he deserves the chance to grow up & prosper - just like Jordan should have.

Law enforcement should be the only ones with guns??? They investigate crimes and deaths; they rarely, if ever, prevent them. "When seconds count, the police are only minutes (often many minutes) away."

@Gunny48 The nutjob that murdered this kid felt exactly like you. This was a senseless tragedy. He had no right to confront those kids. He instigated this entire fiasco because he was embolden by the loaded weapon in his car. I attend Jordan's service today with my 14 years old Af. Am son, and my heart ached for his mother. This woman is living my worst fear. My child is an honor student and we work diligently to make sure that he stays the course and become successful. I wish I could keep him in the house all the time because when he leaves the go to the mall, movies or a friend's house I'm terrified that something will happen to him due to racist, bigots, and so-called men with complexes. I brought my son to Jordan's service because I want to continue to heighten his awareness about the dangers of the world(dangerous people/actions.) A sad day and a lesson for all of us; young people need to respect their environment and not think that they the only ones live in it. If Jordan had've respected the man who requested to turn down the music, he probably still would have been alive today. Please young people do like the bible says and respect your elders and neighbors and the environment, music or other disturbing elements are not worth your life or jail! But to the people that can't understand young people, killing them will not solve the problem, what will you do the next time you cross something that's disturbing like loud music? It's not worth harming someone and throwing your life away!
