JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It takes a lot to pull off a presidential plane's arrival and departure from a commercial airport. It was a long morning of security checks and getting credentialed before even our Action News crew could get onto the tarmac to see Air Force One land.

As Air Force One coasted into the Jacksonville International Airport, the small crowd on the ground got ready.

And as President Barack Obama stepped off, it was waves and fanfare. This has become old hat for the president. But it's a huge deal for Annette Boddie, who was selected to volunteer.

"At the end of the day I'm going to have something to share with my grandchild," said Boddie.

Boddie got a behind-the-scenes peek into what it really takes to pull off a presidential visit.

"My job today was working with you guys in the press. Make sure that you got to your locations, got your credentials and had them all in place so you would get clearance from the Secret Service to be out here," she said.

Karen Johnson Akers was there helping her. Typically there's a small gathering of a lucky chosen few allowed to shake the president's hand when he deplanes -- but Action News learned because of weather and logistics that was canceled. But off in the wings, these women were thankful to catch a glimpse.

"I mean, who gets to do this? Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would do this," said Johnson Akers.

After addressing the crowd at JaxPort, Obama hopped back on Air Force One and departed as smoothly and effortlessly as he arrived. It's a moment in time forever to be cherished by Johnson Akers and Boddie.

"I thought it would never happen that I would see this man walk down this runway and get off of that plane so the historical significance of it does not dwindle," said Boddie.

A few flights were delayed because of the presidential visit. Action News learned that's standard any time Air Force One comes into a commercial airport.

3:20 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The waiting game is over at JIA. Air Force One with President Obama on board has landed. The president is on his way to JAXPORT.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The waiting game continues at JIA. We have been cleared through security and just got shuttled to the Tarmac. Now, more waiting.

Our crews are getting our cameras set up on the media riser and making sure our satellite truck is tuned in and ready. As soon as we catch our first glimpse of Air Force One, we will bring it to you!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There are a lot of secret service and police at the media staging area at Jacksonville International Aiport right now.

Our satellite truck is locked in place on the Tarmac in preparation for the President's arrival.

I've checked in with JIA. I'm told anytime Air Force One lands at a commercial airport, crews have to close air space about 15-20 minutes prior to both arrival and departure. That means anyone flying in and out of JIA this afternoon may experience some delays. Planes in the air will go into a holding pattern during that time until they are able to open air space back up. I'm told if planes are coming from nearby airports, like Atlanta, they may wait on the Tarmac if the flight is expected to land around the same time Air Force One is arriving or departing JIA.

No decisions about holding patterns are decided until Air Force One's arrival or departure are locked down, in case there are delays with the President coming or going from Jacksonville.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Action News is first in line to be escorted onto the Tarmac for President Barack Obama's visit later today.

As you would imagine, security is tight at the airport this morning. Media crews have to wait at the staging area, located a mile or so from the runways at SheltAir Aviation Services.

In about 30 minutes, our satellite truck will be escorted with the rest of the station live trucks onto the Tarmac for set-up. We have to make sure all our cameras and gear are inside for the secret service and security dogs to sweep and check prior to Mr. Obama's plane landing.

Then, it's time to wait. The media check-in is at noon at SheltAir. We will be shuttled and escorted to our satellite trucks shortly thereafter.

Stick with Action News. We will keep you covered every step of the way!

Oh my, this is an interesting set of posts. It is a waste of time to get the Mr. Obama haters to see beyond their usual talking points. It has to be exhausting to be so angry & hateful. His mother was pg but at least she married the father. Most that got pg married the father as it was the "right thing to do." How convenient the 8 years of Bush/Chaney are "forgotten." Those ones caused lots of damage to our country. But of course you will not admit it. I voted for Bush both times. I was so deceived by them, that I made sure I did lots of research before I used my precious vote in 2008. Actually it was a "no brainer" as to the choice. McCain & Palin? OMG! Mr. Obama has been fighting an up hill battle due to those in congress having decided not to work with the man. Is the hate you people have for the man because he is 1/2 black, a democrat? Would you feel the same if Herman Cain won the presidency? If/when those in congress put aside their personal agendas to keep their jobs & are truly working for all the people not just those that support their continued careers in office, we will find that our country will get on track to prosperity for all. BTW, I knew what type of kid Martin was. Zimmerman was an idiot to not listen to the 911 operator & he made the fatal decision to get out of his vehicle to "play cop."

That's because TOO MANY in the White House and out here KNOW what lies behind all this CRAP OBama is trying push through on us, THAT WON'T WORK. There is REASONS why they have NOT let John Q Public read them. There a reasons why WE as Americans cannot let this illegitimate son, born out of wedlock by a white woman by a married Nigerian man, do what ever he pleases with our Government through THREATS. WAKE UP, he's a thug.

You people are amazing! I have not read so much BS in quite some time! First off…Our President was not here to comment on our social/cultural problems…His message has been about the economy, and the goal of strengthening it, and focusing on the fact that our elected officials in the house and senate are doing NOTHING!!!! As usual!!!! From what I have been reading here, It appears to me that our elected officials actually do mirror the constituency…Nothing but Bullsh*t!!!!

Where do I find them, Realchange? Isn't it ironic Obama could not say one kind word to the latest grieving mothers that have lost their kids by the 'same ilk of his followers'? Or should I say, 'that have died by the hands of men that could have been him, or his son.? He just wasted all our tax $ coming here to talk about 'visions' that he knows are doomed to

I would like the President Obama supporters along with the Trayvon Martin supporters explain Martin's texts, his being caught with stolen goods and let go, his multiple fights in school, his bragging to frineds about snitches not bleeding enough. Explain how that is a good kid who clearly would not assault anyone? Please read those texts for yourselves and explain to me how he was good.

I have never been on any 'dating sites' ever, so go wash your filthy mouth out with soap, idiot and grow up. Besides, you couldn't possibly hurt my feelings when you don't even know who your talking to. But go ahead, spew your stupid ass off, it shows your stupidity even more.
