Giant bear again seen roaming local neighborhood
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The bear found beehives in someone's backyard and now the bear won't stay away.
It wants all the honey! But officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission say the bear is going to continue roaming the neighborhood as long as there's honey and trash for it to eat.
One person's trash container was knocked over and the trash scattered everywhere.
The bear was spotted several times on Thursday in the Mandarin neighborhood off Greenland Road. It's wandering over from some nearby woods. The man who owns all the beehives says he had to scare the bear away several times.
"I just made a bunch of racket, ran towards him, screaming at him to get out of here," he told Action News.
Officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission were in the area Thursday night, looking for the bear. They say people should keep their distance if they spot the bear.
