JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sherrif's Office arrested 31-year-old Lance Eugene Kirkpatrick on Tuesday, for the murder of Kim Marie Dorsey.

Derrick Dorsey, the victim's husband, tells Action News he expected an arrest, but it does not come with much relief.

Police tell Action News that Kirkpatrick is a former contractor with a company owned by the couple, and stayed with them briefly in their Southside home.

Derrick would not confirm those details, and he was advised not to speak on camera until the case has been processed further, but he described his pain to Action News as "horrific" with tears in his eyes.

"There have been those before me," he said. "And there will be more who feel this pain, but I'm not sure I'll ever know how to work through it."

Kim and Derrick were together for 15 years and he describes her as a successful business owner, mother to their three dogs, and a loving friend to many.

"Our friends, our family, they are all around. They are a great source of comfort," he said.

While Kirkpatrick is behind bars, Derrick says his feelings are mixed.

"It's hard to describe," he said, "but I'm not relieved. There is a long road ahead."

In his wife's obituary, Derrick calls his wife's death senseless and tragic, and in a message, perhaps to Kirkpatrick, he added a quote from "A Sure Guide to Heaven" by Joseph Alleine.

"Sinner, the power of God's anger is against you, and power and anger together make fearful work. It were better you had all the world in arms against you than to have the power of God against you. There is no escaping His hands, no breaking His prison."

Derrick Dorsey asked Action News to pass along his sincere thanks to the detectives who have been working on the case. He says he had no doubts from the very beginning, that an arrest would be made. He also thanks the public for their thoughts and prayers.
