Group recommends closing a Silver Springs water park
MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A Silver Springs State Park advisory group is recommending operators shut down the Wild Waters water park in an effort to improve the park's desirability, according to documents obtained by Action News.
The recommendation was the product of one of four meetings that will take place to determine the future of the park.
A staff report from the December meeting suggests that the removal of the Wild Waters park would help in the beatification and of the treatment of storm water in the Silver Springs area.
The State of Florida owns both Silver Springs State Park and Wild Waters after the parks' previous owners decided to end their lease.
Wild Waters has been in operation since 1978.
