Homemade explosive found in woman's yard in Northwest Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says homemade bombs were found in a family's yard.
This happened on Rondo Avenue near Moncrief Road in Northwest Jacksonville. Police were called around 3:30 this morning to investigate a possible fire. When they spoke to the homeowner she said someone threw bottles at her home, which started the fire. She also said she heard gun shots.
Police searched the area and found three bottles, the smell of gasoline outside, and multiple bullet holes in the back of the house. Luckily, the woman wasn't hurt.
Action News spoke with a neighbor who says he can't believe this would happen to the couple next door.
"They're really nice people. i don't understand why anybody would even want to do anything to them. unless he's got some enemy's down the road that's coming back at him.. as far as for her and him, they're real nice," says neighbor Frank Epperson.
JSO, ATF and the State Fire Marshal are investigating.
