OCALA, Fla -- A horse participating in the "Horse Shows in the Sun" horse show in Ocala was referred to the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine after showing neurological symptoms of an illness. The horse subsequently tested positive for the Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1).

The Division of Animal Industry is investigating, which includes the show grounds in Ocala and the local farm. Both the farm and Tent 7 at the show are under state quarantine right now.

State officials are asking all those in the equine community to take steps to prevent the spread of the disease and report suspected cases of EHV-1. Just call 850-410-0900 Monday through Friday.
