TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Around 200 miles of Interstate 10, west of Tallahassee, is closed due to wintry weather.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the closure stretches from the Florida-Alabama line to mile marker 181 in Gadsden County.
The FDOT says workers are trying to make sure U.S. 90 is running as smoothly as possible and will serve as one of the many detours.
Some drivers are upset that this puts a damper on their travel plans, but others like Terry Theriot says he would rather be safe than sorry.
He says he and his wife will make the best of it.
"We're both retired so it wouldn't be so bad to stop for the night," said Theriot.
Signs and signals are reportedly posted along I-10 near Tallahassee and Pensacola warning of the closure.
Action News also spoke with EMA officials in Lake City.
They tell us they are also monitoring the roads closely to make sure puddles don't freeze.
