JSO Assistant Chief arrested for DUI
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- JSO Assistant Chief Larry Jones was arrested Saturday morning for driving under the influence, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say Jones was involved in a 2 car crash on Interstate 95 near State Road 206.
Jones was off-duty at the time of the crash.
JSO spokeswoman Lauri-Ellen Smith released the following statement: "We have been made aware of the DUI arrest of Assistant Chief Larry Jones, in another jurisdiction, early this morning. Sheriff Rutherford has initiated an Internal Affairs investigation. The matter will be dealt with appropriately."
Jones was taken to the St. Johns County jail where he has since been released.
