JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A JSO officer has been arrested for driving under the influence.  Officer Diana Laura Jones was arrested Tuesday night.  She's under investigation for four different hit-and-run crashes.

Investigators say it all started at the Publix parking lot on Atlantic Blvd. Police say Jones hit a parked car in front of the CVS. We're told after the crash, Jones took off, rear-ended a vehicle on Hodges, drove over a median then made a U-turn and returned to the Publix parking lot. That's when investigators say she hit two more parked cars.

Police say when they arrived at the scene, Jones was in the driver's seat of her car eating a hamburger. The officer on the scene says she refused to get out of the car and cursed at him several times.

Jones was hired by JSO in 2004. Action News learned Jones was arrested for DUI back in 2006.  She got a 20-day suspension for that incident.

In 2011, Police say someone caught Jones on camera driving erratically.
During that investigation, police went to her home where she blew over the legal limit and was eventually fired. Jones was re-hired after she filed an appeal.

Undersheriff Dwain Senterfitt says when Jones was re-hired, she was taken off street duty and placed on phone duty.

Action News Noel McLaren spoke with one of the hit-and-run victims.  Watch for the story on Action News at 5 p.m. on CBS47.

Why would you not show the picture of the person you are reporting--Diana Jones, yet show the picture of Larry Jones? He didn't hit and run cars. I find it offensive and in poor taste. I don't care what is her race but it is suspect that you revert to the African American demoted chief but no picture of the actual subject of your story. Bad actions Action News. Can you say impartial?

I just saw your news report about this on the 10 o'clock news hour and was very disturbed that you all showed a picture of a black male police officer when you were ending the segment about the officer who committed the hit and runs while under the influence. Not sure why your network would show a picture of someone who was not the topic of your segment, but I hope there will be a correction and the picture of the person who actually committed this crime be shown.

Her 'race' may not have been a factor, BUT her gender must have been. She should have been fired PERMANENTLY THE FIRST TIME.

it would appear the stress of being a jso officer is affecting a number of officers in that department !!! the assistant chief was arrested on D.U.I. in st john's county 2 weeks ago... so it affects the highest ranking members down to the lowliest patrol person... her race is not a factor, alcohol is !!!

Protect and drink after another and another and another. I too am happy this lush didn't kill or hurt anyone and I hope she gets the help she needs, just after losing her job and driver’s license.

Some policeman sre no different than the criminals running the street, they just carry a gun legally and abuse their powers! Throw the book at her, she will call David Robbins and Donald moroon (chief judge),they will get her free for a few dollars.

One of those parked cars had a 5 month old baby and mother in it!!! She's lucky she didn't kill anyone.
