JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Northbound lanes of I-295 near Pulaski Road were shut down for several hours Saturday, after a dump truck crashed and lost the materials it was transporting on the interstate.

Witnesses report several vehicles were involved in the crash, including a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office patrol car.

None of the drivers involved in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries.

No word on what caused the dump truck to overturn or if any charges will be filed.

I always wondered why dump trucks were even allowed on the interstate. They spew stuff out the back at 65/70 mph while adorned with lettering telling you to keep back 100 ft. The only ones allowed should be the ones actually doing business on the highway.
