JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After four years of operating in the Jacksonville sports and entertainment complex, the City Hall Pub is closing its doors. Owner Ron Sholes made the announcement Thursday saying other business ventures as well as personal reasons are causing the closure.

Not only has the pub been a favorite of patrons, but it has enjoyed hosting many celebrities as well, including the likes of Ced the Entertainer, "American Idol" winner, Fantasia, and many other Veteran's Memorial Arena performers and area athletes. It also sponsored the Jacksonville Sharks, Suns and Giants along the way, and hosted numerous political and social events.

Sholes says he has several professional plans keeping him busy.

Sholes also plans to continue his efforts to bring professional basketball to Jacksonville. He says he expects to see bigger and better things for the Giants with each passing year. "Concentrating my efforts on our firm providing the best possible service to our clients during our expansion has to be my priority right now. The Jacksonville Giants and making professional basketball a mainstay in our community is also something we'll continue working on, but I am also looking forward to getting more directly involved with several charities through our foundation," says Sholes.

When asked if he would miss it, Sholes simply said, "I wish there were more hours in a day."

Sholes' law firm, the Law Offices of Ron Sholes, P.A., is opening three new offices in 2013 and adding more than a dozen employees, including five additional attorneys.
