JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- It's a pure, sweet melody that started years ago. The lyrics will bring most people to tears.
"She had the eyes of an angel that could melt most hearts. He had the look of his father, and the charm right from the start. Two seasons of innocence have too quickly come and gone. Like a rose before it blooms. Something must be wrong," Dennis Wilson said.
Wilson has been a singer all his life...but really kicked it in to gear the last few years. His song "Who's Going To Fill Their Shoes?" came to life after the shootings at Columbine ... but wasn't recorded until after the tragedy in Newtown.
The message is simple.
"I think it's kind of multi-faceted. one: trying to make a difference in the person's life before they get to the point where they want to shoot somebody and the second thing is to bring healing and I think the value of a life," Wilson continued.
Wilson recorded the piece at River City Recording Studios at The Landing in Jacksonville. Everyone he works with can tell it's special.
"It's more than just a session for me. It's something I really want to see take off for him," producer Kevin Wicker said.
Wilson, who's also a pastor, hopes and prays there's no more tragedies to sing about. In the meantime, he thinks we all have to do our part.
"I think we have to find out where we are and what's going on, so hopefully this will draw attention to it," he said.
The overall vision for this song is to make it a "We Are the World" kind of project with multiple contributions and voices.
