Local mom arrested for aggravated child abuse
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police arrested a local mother on child abuse charges.
Saturday night, officers responded to an apartment complex on Moncrief Road to check on the family who lived there. Police weren't able to get anyone to come to the door.
Officers eventually entered the apartment and found a woman and three children passed out on the floor.
The family was rushed to the hospital where one of the child told police Liara McGlothen gave them "three red vitamins."
Another child told officers they recieved "five white pills that tasted nasty." Police say the children were told they would sleep for a long time.
McGlothan was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse. She's undergoing a mental evaluation. The children are in the custody of DCF.
