JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Kansas City Chiefs won an emotional and improbable victory Sunday just a day after their teammate was accused of murdering his girlfriend and then taking his own life. Now, Kansas City's grieving quarterback, Brady Quinn's post-game comments are prompting as much discussion as the game itself.

Quinn said, "We live in a society of social networks, with Twitter pages and Facebook, and that's fine, but we have contact with our work associates, our family, our friends, and it seems like half the time we are more preoccupied with our phone and other things going on instead of the actual relationships that we have right in front of us. Hopefully, people can learn from this and try to actually help if someone is battling something deeper on the inside than what they are revealing on a day-to-day basis."

Action News took Quinn's introspective remarks to local psychologist, Dr. Matt Borer. "I talk to my clients all the time about it," said Borer.

Dr. Borer recently wrote the book, "Deleting UR EX: Getting Over a Breakup in a World of Tweets, Texts & Social Updates." The book details how replacing face to face communication with social media and texting can harm relationships.

Borer told Action News, "phones and computers can all be supplemental. But when they become primary means of communication, you're in trouble because communication is ultimately face to face."

The Chiefs quarterback says he regrets not having deeper discussions which might have saved his troubled teammate and Jovan Belcher's girlfriend.

Problems that Dr. Borer says are rarely discussed on social media.

"You only put things on Facebook when they are going great. Even when they are not, you say they are going great because it's just narcissistic," said Borer, "You're not conveying any of that information except for the good things."

The bottom line is that an insane person killed himself right after murdering his girlfriend. No court costs - no prison costs. Story complete.

What a bunch of crap..and QUACK psychologist DO exist..as this clearly shows. NOT EVERYONE can tell if a person going off the 'deep end' when they are STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. There would not be so much crime in this world if EVERYONE talking face to face with someone KNEW THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG OR IF THEY WERE GOING TO DO SOMETHING HORRENDOUS. I wish I had a nickel for every time I read or heard someone say, "I am in shock, I never thought 'so and so' was capable of that". or "I just spoke to him, he/she showed no signs of anything wrong". SOUND FAMILIAR? Got to blame people's action's on SOMETHING, so now the social media KILLS..hey at least this idiot didn't blame it on guns again. PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE, not guns or tweets.
