ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- An Atlantic Beach eatery is being cited for flying a foreign flag.

Nick The Greek, a restaurant on Donner Road, was flying a Greek flag, which is against a city policy that prohibits businesses from flying anything other than an American flag.

City commissioner Maria Mark found out about it and is asking the community development board to review the policy.

What's to review? We don't fly foreign flags in this country except where allowed under the American flag. There are logical reasons for that, but among them is that this is America. The national law is that you only fly a state flag as long as the American flag is taller than (or above) the other(s). Many people violate this, but typically on private property such as their residence. The exception is the United Nations building.
