JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Welcome Food Store on Loretto Road is known as the luckiest lottery store in town for one simple reason. "We've sold a lot of big jackpot winners, a lot," said longtime store employee, Karen Reap.
She says at least six big jackpots have been won at the Mandarin store, from big multi-state games down to a single scratch-off ticket. "We've had a couple million dollars winners, a $10,000 winner, $40,000 winner," she said.
Regular customers like Billy McDonald say they shop there because of the friendly customer service. "I've been buying my tickets here for a long time," he said.
But if a little luck happens to rub off on them, they say that would be just fine.
Reap said, "This is a great store. Most of our customers are like family. We root for people. And fortunately, we've seen a lot of people win who are really great people. So it's nice to see that."
