JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Tropical storm "Debby" will continue to spin bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms northward across metro Jacksonville, Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia through at least Wednesday. Another very heavy band of rain will cross metro Jacksonville and much of Northeast Florida through early morning Tuesday with the potential for another 2-4" of rain, locally even more. With the ground already saturated, flooding will continue to be a major threat and travel is not recommended along Interstate 10 and about 40-50 miles either side of I-10. Isolated tornadoes will also be possible through Tuesday and even into Wednesday. If you live in a flood prone area, be prepared to take action. Black Creek in Clay County is expected to crest Tuesday between 22 & 23 feet...flood stage is 16 feet, and the record crest is 25 feet. The St. Mary's River at Macclenny is forecast to crest at 14.9 feet Saturday which will cause minor flooding (flood stage 12 feet). The Suwannee River in Columbia County will crest Thursday morning at 79.3 feet just above flood stage 77.0 feet. Keep in mind that water levels and forecast crests could vary a great deal depending on additional rainfall. Remember: "Turn Around, Don't Drown".
