JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is behind bars accused of killing a man in a wheelchair with his car and leaving the scene of the crash.

Wednesday evening, Emmitt Roberts was on his motorized wheelchair crossing Edgewood Avenue South near Trask Street when a car slammed into him. Roberts was thrown from the chair, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Police apprehended Steven Wayne Bradstreet a short time later. Investigators say Bradstreet hit the victim, stopped to check for damage to his vehicle, then left the scene. He is now charged with Fleeing the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death.
