JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local man is recovering after being shot in his car during a robbery. The shooting occurred Saturday on Moncrief Road.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office blocked off the road between Golfair Boulevard and 33rd Street as they searched for clues. They say two officers were on patrol when they heard gunshots. As they were investigating, police say, they were flagged down by a passerby who pointed them to a crash. That crash victim, police say, is also the victim of the shooting that police officers heard.

JSO says the victim told them he was in his car when two men approached him demanding money. When he didn't comply, police say the victim told him the men shot him. Police say the victim tried to get away but crashed.

The victim was taken to UF Health and is expected to recover.

Police are now looking for information leading to the suspects. If you know anything that can help police find the shooter, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

I wonder what race the perpetrators were? They must have been black since race wasn't mentioned.
