JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Phillip McSwain was surprised to hear that someone had crashed into his car parked outside the Publix where he works.

But he was even more surprised to hear that a JSO officer was accused of the crime; an officer, police say was under the influence of alcohol.

"I mean sure they're people just like us, they're not perfect, but at the same time we all look to them as having a higher standard than people that are not of the sheriff's office," he said.

Officer Diana Jones was arrested on a DUI charge Tuesday night. She's accused of hitting four cars, and then just driving off.

"I was glad that it was only damage to my car and that no individuals were hurt," said McSwain.

Police say they found Jones hiding at the opposite end of the parking lot scarfing down a hamburger and shouting expletives.

Action News has learned that officer Jones was previously arrested in 2006 and was given a 20-day suspension. In 2011, she was caught driving erratically and suspended for 60 days.

Undersheriff Dwain Senterfitt says he was forced to reinstate her through arbitration, so he kept her off the streets.

"They can make me reinstate her as a police officer but they can't tell me where she works," said Senterfitt.

Now Jones is behind bars again, a relief for victims like McSwain.

Senterfitt says if Jones is convicted, he will terminate her.

Luckly it was only a tail light lens and small dent that can be poped out with a mallet. No biggy for his insurance co.

Let her off AGAIN and the third time she will kill someone. She should have been FIRED the first time and NO ONE should have been fooled the SECOND time. She CLEARLY has a drinking problem.
