LAKE BUTLER, Fla. -- A Union County physician's assistant, Oscar Armengol, is behind bars and charged with sexually assaulting a female patient.
A young woman tells the Union County Sheriff's Office that she showed up after hours to Dr. Marvin Johnson's family practice office in Lake Butler for treatment of fibromyalgia.
She claims that during the appointment on Nov. 4, the longtime medical assistant drugged her with pills and intravenous medication inside the office, then took off her clothes, snapped pictures and sexually assaulted her while she said she was pleading with the medical assistant to stop.
Johnson's son, who works in the office, tells Action News that Armengol, 53, worked at the office for 18 years and the doctor considered him a model employee.
Whit Johnson told Action News, "What ever he was doing, it wasn't to his consent. [Dr. Johnson] had no idea he was up to this." Dr. Johnson's patients meanwhile are shocked and horrified by the allegations of this one-time incident inside the office on Main Street.
Armengol was arrested last week at his home in Gainesville.
He is charged with practicing medicine without a license and sexual assault. He's being held in the Alachua County Jail. Bond was set at $600,000.
