ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Brandalynn Josey is holding her baby girl a little bit tighter today after the girl's father threw her down a flight of stairs.
According to Josey, she never imagined the girl's father, Joseph Izzi, 24, would harm her.
"I was so disappointed that he was so selfish to do this to his child," said Brandalynn Josey.
Josey says her daughter's injuries are hard to look at, but it's the ones she can't see that really worry her.
"It's more of a traumatic experience than anything. She's not sore anymore but she's having a hard time sleeping," said Josey.
Investigators say Izzi threw the toddler down a flight of concrete steps at Fairview Condominium.
When police found him, he was naked and running around the parking lot of the complex.
The girl was transferred to Flagler Hospital on Monday where she was treated for bruises and scratches to her knee, arms, back and even had to get two staples on her head.
Josey tells Action News she and Izzi have been sharing custody of their daughter after they ended their two-year relationship last summer.
She says his behavior that night was out of character, but this was just too close of a call to let him come near her again.
"I think he should sit in prison for a really long time and have time to face the fact that he's never going to see her again," said Josey.
Josey says her daughter's bruises are healing and she's hopeful that because of her young age she'll soon forget the ordeal.
Joseph Izzi is being held at the St. Johns County jail on a $265,000 bond.
