PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- Quinn Gray was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, and already her neighbors are talking about it.
You hear only the sound of the ocean, the wind swaying the trees and cars driving down the Ponte Vedra street. Neighbors like Dave Evans say it's usually a quiet neighborhood.
"We don't usually have excitement in the neighborhood," said Evans.
But in the last week he's been watching this blue house across the street, the home of Quinn and Reid Gray. "They just moved in a couple months ago," said Evans.
Many of the couples neighbors were surprised to learn Gray was arrested for trying to extort $50,000 from her husband Reid.
"At least she went for the jackpot instead of 500 or 600 dollars. Good for her on that," said Brad Himel.
Action News found pictures on Gray's Facebook page. The couple looks happy, just like neighbors thought they were. "They seemed like a nice family. I met her, but they seemed nice," said Evans.
Neighbors say the couple kept to themselves. Quinn Gray is the mother of two young girls and a registered nurse. The picture taken by police Wednesday after her arrest still shows her smiling. The same smile she had in the picture police sent out when she was missing. But police say behind that smile is a woman whose kidnapping story just didn't add up last week. Neighbors like Dave also thought there was more to it.
"It's certainly is up there on the bizarre list," said Evans.
Gray graduated from Florida State in 1995 with a degree in nursing. She also worked in a Boston Hospital.
