ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Shirley H. Temple was killed on Interstate 95 near State Road 206 after she tried to push her car off the road from a previous crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP says the 50-year-old from Zebulah, N.C., was getting help moving her 1998 Saturn off the road by Good Samaritans when a Ford Econoline van crashed into the group.

Temple was taken to Orange Park Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The rest of the involved parties were taken to Florida Hospital in St. Augustine with minor injuries, the crash report states.

Troopers say charges are pending based on the outcome of the investigation.
