OCALA, Fla.-- A local father is defending why he put bleach in his baby girl's bottle.
Carron Washington spoke out this afternoon from the Marion County jail.
He says a friend told him mixing a capful of the substance with milk was a good home remedy. His 2-month-old suffers from breathing problems, and in his words, he was just trying to help.
He initially lied to Ocala Police about what happened, but decided to come clean.
"When she woke up about 1:30 that morning, I decided to put a little bit in there to see if it would help. And she started throwing it up and we called the ambulance to come and check her out."
"This would probably be the dumbest decision I've ever made in my life. I regret it 110%."
Washington is studying pre-med at The College of Central Florida in Ocala.
He says he's willing to take parenting classes or whatever he needs to after he gets out of jail. He's charged with aggravated child abuse.
His daughter is at UF and Shands in Gainesville. Her condition has not been released.
