JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There is a growing push to make sure more local kids don't suffer the fate of 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle.

The girl from Northwest Jacksonville was abducted and killed last month.

An online petition urging lawmakers to pass Cherish's Law now has 1,200 signatures.

They are asking leaders to reform repeat sex offender laws, to keep better tabs on offenders after they serve time.

'Keeping tabs' is NOT enough, it is impossible for the AMOUNT of offenders being released into society. It will be like traffic speeders, no way law enforcement can control or catch all of them, by then the 'act' of 'molesting/assaulting/murders will be long done before its caught. HOW does this law help innocent children? It is a good way to keep Cherish's memory alive, but not a way to STOP just one more child from this type of heinous crime.
